I love Katherine Heigl to pieces. The hubby does, too, and as a result we’ve seen most of her movies. We’re pretty excited about her new movie One For The Money, which will show on January. I’ve seen the trailer (okay, seen it way too many times) already and while at first I was psyched about a favorite artist being casted in the lead role, I realized she’s not the Stephanie Plum I imagined. Heigl just doesn’t fit Stephanie’s personality.

That, plus there are some readily obvious omissions from the book in the trailer (like when Stephanie’s car exploded and she was inside the house. In the book she was outside, way too close to the explosion it burned her eyebrows off!) and Ranger, oh Ranger was my biggest disappointment in the cast.

Daniel Sunjata is good-looking, but he doesn’t look Cuban. And he doesn’t even have long hair slicked back in a ponytail, like Evanovich described him in the book. They could have gotten a better-looking Joe Morelli as well, someone who looks more Italian. But, oh well, Jason O’Mara might be one of those guys whom you eventually fall in love with the longer you stare at him.

I think Lula’s character was spot on, she’s one of my favorites in the book (aside from Grandma Mazur. The casting of Mazur was a bit of disappointment as well). Sherri Shephard was exactly what I imagined Lula to be, sounds as hard as industrial bearings when she speaks, but really just a crazy, funny woman who sucks at almost everything she does (a lot like me I guess. LOL)

And yes, Danny Devito should have been Vinnie Plum, and not Stephanie’s father. The casting of this movie leaves so much to be desired. Let’s just hope they compensate for it by being great at acting out their roles in the whole movie. But anyway, I’ve learned to not hope for a lot from a movie based on a book, because based on past experience, the movie has always, always let me down.
