Biking As Exercise

When I was in high school, I have a friend who owns a bicycle so I got the chance to learn how to use it. It was a very good experience for me because we don’t have our own bicycle at that time. I remember feeling exhilarated when I rode the bike on my own. It was also the first time I got a scar, and I’m proud of that scar. It’s hardly visible now, but I remember quite well how I got it.

The bike I was using lost its brake, and I was driving it fast. Next thing I know I was thrown face first in the bushes. I got scratches all over but I emerged from there laughing, it was the craziest thing I did back in the days. It also served as a good exercise for me. I was sweaty and my heart is beating fast after a long bike ride (we went on really long rides that my mom didn’t know about. LOL), my legs also felt stronger after each ride.

My daughter Svet and my nephew Elijah share a bike that my sister bought for Elijah’s birthday. They can’t use it nowadays because it’s almost always raining. When Svet grows a bit older I will teach her how to ride a bike properly, because I know it will benefit her physically. Perhaps in several years we’ll go on a nature hike as a bonding activity. I’m not so great (well, okay I suck at) directions but I will not be afraid to get lost because I will surely find bikers gps to buy.

I wish mom learned how to ride a bike. Yes, she doesn’t know how. She has high blood pressure and it would have helped lower it naturally instead of drinking medicine for it. Our family also has diabetes and I learned that biking can reduce the risk of developing said ailment as well.

That being said, I will definitely buy a bike and start riding again, even just once a week. I am so out of exercise right now and I’m not getting any younger and I think a bike is a pretty cheap investment for my health.
