GT: Teacher’s Pet

A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops. ~Henry Adams

I have always felt that teaching the world’s most underpaid profession. Aside form being underpaid, they are under appreciated as well. So this month, we will take the first week to honor the teacher closest to our heart, that someone whose lessons (in class and/or in real life) we will never forget for the rest of our lives.

As for me, my favorite teacher of all time is Ms. Marisa Catibog. She is my class advisor (adviser?) during fourth year high school and our Filipino subject teacher as well. Filipino has never been my favorite subject in school, but with her teaching, I find every class a time to look forward to everyday. Not only she is my favorite teacher, she is also my mentor as well. She is my companion when I go to different schools to compete academically, she gives me advise about life in general, and was there when I was down in the dumps because of my parents’ separation.

Now, twelve years later, I realize that I haven’t been keeping in touch as much as I want to. But I will change that. I want to see her, thank her one more time for all that she’s done for me, inside and outside the class. And if possible be always there for her, like she did for me in that period of my life.

This is the only picture I have of her, cropped from our class picture that fourth year in high school. Most of our old photos were left at my grandma’s house in Bulacan so I have nothing else to scan. But I hope to see her again soon, and take a picture of her with me as souvenir :)

It is always important to have a guardian angel in school.. They always ensure that we do well in our studies and will be there for us, regardless of how many people pushes us down :)

i agree with shydub, your teacher looks so young :-)

and i admire what you said about keeping in touch, it’s probably time i do that as well. i lost most contacts when i left philippines about 20 years ago. lucky for facebook, i’ve gotten some back.
