GT: Techie Talk
It’s the last Thursday of April, and we’re still talking about stuff to die for. Our prompt for this week is that one techie object that we’d die to get our hands on, or we already own but still can’t get enough of. So what’s mine?
I’m not a gadget buff. Heck I don’t even have a mobile these days, and have been mobile-less for about three years now. It’s just liberating for me to not be always available, especially when I don’t want to be reached. I say I’m not a gadget buff, but I love my desktop to bits, not only because I use it for work, but because it’s my constant companion everyday. Which is why if there’s one that I’d give my eye teeth for, it would be a processor upgrade for my computer, which would be this:
It’s an AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, and I am planning to upgrade to this lovely procie this July as a birthday gift to myself. I currently have a quad core, but I think my desktop deserves a better processor than what it currently has. I upgraded from a dual core several months back, and thought I’d give it ample time before I jump to another upgrade. Hee hee. I initially thought of blogging about the Apple Macbook i7 (which costs around $3,000) but I decided to stick to something I can actually buy without working myself to death so I can buy it ASAP. LOL.
Besides, an AMD six-core processor is almost as good as an i7 Intel processor. A slightly lower performance for one-eighth the price is a no-brainer. Obviously, I’m a huge AMD fan. I know a monster eight-core AMD (aptly called the Bulldozer core) will be released on June, but of course I will have to wait until it becomes available here in the country before I get an upgrade again.
I guess I just typed in 300+ words of this post without half of you even understanding what the frack I am talking about. LOL. But I know we’ll get a lot of that this week from all our Girl Talkers. I’m curious to know what technological item you might be salivating after. I am thinking a lot of DSLRs (and the i7 Macbook too) will crop up ^^

so this baby would allow you to click like lightning, huh! ganun ba kabilis…hehehe… yung hubby ko hardcore software programmer Kaye we have lots of gadgets at home that I never mind asking… mamaya biglang sumabog.. all I care is my laptop, na kahit sabihin niyang iupgrade ayaw ko baka mabura yung mga kung ano-ano… waaaahhhh…
am not really that techie, + all the jargon is like gibberish to me, but they are all a bunch of eye-candies that i don’t mind ogling + thinking i’d have one of them too^^

I regret to have missed last week’s GT. I guess I just couldn’t decide what particular clothing to choose since I don’t have much,haha! Anyways, I am pro AMD too but I’m not really techy. I just know the basics. I have added my entry and hope you can check it out too. Thanks!
i also have those days when i don’t want to be reached so even if my cellphone’s battery always dies on me, i don’t care to recharge. haha! my husband gets annoyed nga lang kasi laging kapag siya ang tumatawag saka ako dead-batt.

Hubby is also a big AMD fan! Nahawa na nga rin ako. And yes, I agree that AMD is cheaper than Intel pero di na maxado malayo ang performance.

the 8-core i think is already available online. same with the 8-core macpro but you’re right, these stuff costs so much. AMD is a good choice too.
kailangan mo talaga yan sa work mo dahil sa dami ng files mo. kailangan mo talaga yung magandang processor at malaking memory. siguro kami mga 3 years pa bago mag-upgrade.
maiba nga pala ako…nabasa ko sa yahoo news na baka daw yung Chuck ay isa sa mga mawalang series…waaah! so if totoo yon malamang yung wedding ang season ender. hindi na natin makikita ang baby nila.

Couldn’t think of a gadget I’d die to get my hands on maybe because I don’t have much techie needs and I’m happy with my little gadgets. So I blogged about them instead.
BTW, nice feature on AMD. If I were using a desktop, I’d probably want to buy one too!
I have to admit, most of what you said about the specs, I didn’t understand
…sounds hi-tech! I bet your PC will be running at lightning speed with that processor.
