I know my wardrobe needs serious updating, and if I am going to do it, I am doing it the boyfriend way (although it was so last year. But hey, so what? I like the look). I adore Katie Holmes and since she started this trend, it only makes sense that I try it on me. I haven’t yet, by the way, so I still don’t know if it suits me. Besides, it’s über cold in these parts nowadays so I’ll have to wait until summer. Wait. Hold up. What is boyfriend fashion? Well, according to good ‘ol Wikipedia (although the article where I got this from does not cite any references):

boyfriend is any style of women’s clothing that was modified from a corresponding men’s garment. Examples include boyfriend jackets, boyfriend jeans, and boyfriend blazers, which are often more unisex or looser in appearance and fit than most women’s jackets or trousers, though still designed for the female form.

The origin of this trend is literally borrowing and wearing your boyfriend’s clothes. Of course nowadays there are a lot of brands that create men’s-inspired fashion items for us women so there’s no need to fight over who’s going to wear the boyfriend’s blazers next. Ever since Katie started wearing them, other celebs followed suit. I especially like Rachel Bilson (whom Paulie had a major crush on ever since we saw her on The Last Kiss) in her boyfriend blazers, she looks sooo chic in them!

Not to mention that that red Jimmy Choo Blythe satchel is to die for. I’m definitely digging out my blazers (product of my college days when we had to do tons of oral reports in front of the class).
