There was a shocking rumor several days back about Lady Gaga announcing that she had her legs amputated as a fashion statement. My mom, who works with keywords on Google Trends for Mturk, relayed this bit of gossip to me and I immediately thought, well, she’s one gaga for sure. But I also wondered what stupid doctor agreed to the operation, or if it is even possible to have a doctor agree to do that and not lose his license. The issue slipped my mind and it wasn’t until today that I remembered to research if the rumor is true or not. Well, reliable sources say that IT IS NOT TRUE.

The rumor seemed to have stemmed from this article, which by the way is published on a humor site.  Sarcasm is a foreign language to a lot people who read the post, and took it as true. Twitter was ablaze with tweets announcing that Lady Gaga has amputated her leg on purpose just because she thought it would look cool. It took Lady Gaga’s record-label representatives a couple of days to answer that THE RUMOR IS UNTRUE. Meanwhile people around the world are cussing Lady Gaga for her stupidity, when in fact, she did no such thing. Oh well. It’s not the first time for a celebrity to be the subject of a cruel hoax. But man, this one’s going to go into the book for sure.
