Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Maria Venus Raj was stripped of her crown and after Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) found out about “inconsistencies” in her birth records. First of all, my reaction was, WTF. They didn’t know of those details when she first applied? I mean they go through this rigorous process of being selected right? And they found out about this just now. Well, there’s lack of a proper system for you. Wouldn’t be surprised. This is the Philippines, after all.

I saw Ms. Raj on The Buzz last Sunday, crying and speaking her heart out. I didn’t watch the Binibining Pilipinas pageant and was not interested in it, so it was only last Sunday that I learned of the details of why she was dethroned. According to my understanding and from what I heard from Ms. Raj, the reason boils down to because she was born out of wedlock? Seriously now. What fresh hell is that?? Are we that supreme hypocrites of a people now? I feel for Ms. Raj, and my heart goes out to her. It’s right what you’re doing here girl. Fight for your crown. You worked hard for it. BPCI even thought you deserved it, why, they let you win, didn’t they? That is, until their hypocrisy got the better of them. Sad. Just sad.
